Dont’s:
1. AVOID THE USE OF EAR DROPS.
After any kind of ear trauma, this is a common mistake that people make. Ear drops used immediately after trauma will introduce infection from the canal into the eardrum and middle ear and cause infection. In an infected ear, the chance of ear drum healing on its own will significantly reduce.
Whereas, if left alone, the injured eardrum will heal on its own without any surgical intervention in 4 to 6 weeks.
2. For the same reason, avoid putting oil in the ear.
3. Avoid getting water in the ear.
Do’s:
1. Immediately contact the ENT doctor who will examine & prescribe the necessary medicines.
2. You may take a painkiller to settle the pain in case an ENT doctor is not immediately available.
3. Keep the ear completely dry for 4 to 6 weeks.
4. Hearing test may be required.
